''What made you get into art?''

Art has always been an important part of my life, I remember as a young child the smell of the cheap wax crayons and the real disappointment as they never did give off much pigment, a frustration at such a young age!

It was later in life after a freak life-changing accident whilst horse riding that I suddenly would have visions /dreams and ideas with a strong sense of urgency to create them that I started my professional art career. I had a joke with the doctors during my 1-year intensive recovery that the trauma to my head gave me abilities today!

I often felt disconnected to my environment growing up, I always knew I was creative, I knew I wasn’t one for a corporate lifestyle! I often have visions of large moving scenes before me and seeing patterns in everything, numbers, walls even paragraphs! It is only when I paint and I am fully in the flow of painting I feel a sense of contribution as I’m sharing my ideas/ visions that have come to with the world.- most likely why I have chosen this path.

I now reside in Oxfordshire where I make the time to paint in my studio.

About Chloe

“Why do you enjoy focusing your art around wildlife/ animals so much?

Early on as a child, I could always connect with animals. Natural history and science were my favourite subjects, you would often find me reading encyclopaedias or covered in the mud outside, collecting leaves or being mesmerised with form.

Before my accident, I was a horse trainer and I always had a deep emotional connection with animals. I could tell their next move or listen to what they had to say just by looking in their eyes. My nickname was the horse whisper! with my unique ability to connect with them, I want to enable my viewers to connect with the subject and scene they are in, animals have always been a huge part of my life.

''You use butterflies a lot on your work, is there a reason you like to use these?''

I wanted to incorporate another element of freedom and butterflies hold a lot of spiritual meaning for me and people throughout history, they can represent life, change, hope and endurance. Many cultures associate the butterfly with our soul. I find butterflies positive, there is something about rebirthing from a caterpillar to the butterfly I find spellbinding. There are over 20000 species in the world, this gives me great scope to explore and research as time goes on.

''What is your main goal as an artist?''

Connection, everything is connected and I love the feedback I get from a viewer that has described my work as having its own soul, journey or scene that they just love and connect with. If I can highlight issues animals are facing and use interesting materials to be visually interesting, then that’s my goal its all about engaging people.

''What are your greatest achievements?''

“I would say having a permanent art display at the Aintree, the home of the grand national and having a nationwide billboard campaign with clear channel, it was so amazing to see my artwork on digital billboards all around London and even getting photos from new people all the way in Scotland!

Personally my greatest achievement is having the courage and belief to move from the small village in North Lancashire where I grew up in, giving up my equestrian centre in the process and having the faith to go all in on my artwork this lead to a move to living in Central London. I moved with nothing to my name and worked incredibly hard to get where I am. More recently I have moved home and art studios to north Oxfordshire.
